Meeting Our Visitors
Giving Our Visitors a Face
Estimated time: 10 - 15 minutes
For Parents
Before you begin....
This week isn't about teaching your child how to control their feelings.
It is about helping them notice that feelings visit all of us.
Some feelings stay for a few seconds. Some stay for longer.
None of them are "good" or "bad" - they're simply visitors.
Today's Story
Buzz had been asking lots of little friends what Joy looked like.
One Friend said, "like warm sunshine!"
Another said, "tiny Yellow bubbles!"
Someone else laughed, "My Joy is a dancing rabbit!"
Buzz laughed.
"Wow.... Joy can look so many different ways!"
Then he turned to you with a big smile.
"Now I'm the most excited to see your Joy."
"What does your Joy look like?
"What colour is it? What shape is it?
Does it sparkle, jump, or fly?"
"I can't wait to see what you imagine.
Your Joy might be like no one else's and that's what makes it so special." ✨

Prefer listening?
Invite your child to to think about one feeling that visited them this week.
It could be:
- Happy.
- Angry.
- Confused.
- sad.
- or any other feeling they noticed.
Ask:
Which visitor would you like to
create today?
Today's Exploration
Encourage your child to explore:
- What colour would it be?
- Would it be tiny or enormous?
- Would it move quickly or slowly?
- Would it make a sound?
- Would it be soft, fluffy,
spiky or wobbly?
There are no wrong answers.
Let your child draw, paint or build their visitor in any way they like.
As your child creates,
Instead of directing, stay curious.
also, try to give it a name.
Today you'll solve four little emotional mysteries together.
There are no right or wrong answers. Simply stay curious.
